NE Regional Coordinator
Hello! My name is Nicole Lindsay and I am the Northeast Regional Coordinator for Parent to Parent of Pennsylvania. I live in Scranton, PA with my husband and our son (age five) and daughter (age three). I have held many titles throughout my life including student, chef, 911 telecommunicator, and wife, but my favorite by far has been mother. When our youngest was born, she “failed” the newborn hearing screen in the hospital, leading us down a road that we had never envisioned was even possible. To say that the endless doctor appointments, tests, therapies, and mountains of paperwork were overwhelming would be an understatement. Ultimately, our daughter was diagnosed with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss with EVA, cause unknown, and fitted for her first set of hearing aids at three months old. Our world was turned upside down, as the future suddenly became very unclear. With the support of our family, friends, and some amazing professionals we connected with along the way, we made it through that first year generally unscathed. I now feel that I can breathe easy knowing that we have come out the other side stronger than we were before this journey began. While the future is still unclear, I have replaced the angst with excitement. I feel overjoyed and blessed to be a part of Parent to Parent where I can give other families that small sigh of relief that they are not sure will ever come.
